Android Studio – changing the JDK from Open JDK to Oracle (recommended)

When Android Studio starts up, there is a warning that Open JDK has UI and performance issues and the Oracle JDK is recommended.  I followed the advice here to uninstall Open JDK and install Oracle instead:

http://askubuntu.com/questions/430434/replace-openjdk-with-oracle-jdk-on-ubuntu

the only thing I did differently was update /etc/environment instead of /usr/profile

PATH=”/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games:/usr/local/games:/usr/local/java”
JAVA_HOME=/usr/local/java/jdk1.8.0_102
STUDIO_JDK=/usr/local/java/jdk1.8.0_102
ANDROID_SDK_HOME=/home/anne/.android

also did:

chmod 777 -R studio.sh
